Transparent Views

Postby Fly2e » Wed Jul 23, 2003 2:10 pm

Hey, I just posted this over at GJSmiths site where he has alot of those reflective texture repaints.

Hello Garry. How have you been? A while back I downloaded your chrome texture for the Baron. I was wondering if you have heard of this problem. When I am in virtual cockpit view mode and look around to the outside, the aircraft looks transparent. You can see through the wings and engines. I have a great machine with the latest drivers and video card. I must have over 2 dozen of your repaints, (wonderful I might add) , and none other seem to do this. Is there a fix for it or is something wrong? Thanks for your time,
Dave

Does anybody here know how to correct this?

Thanks

Hey Dave,

I had the same problem with my repaint of the Baron and it was caused by the Alpha file in the cockpit bmp file having black areas in it. On the alpha channel of a virtual cabin file, black indicates see through. If you look at the alpha for this file and remove the black. (Make it all white) then the see through parts will no longer be transparent.

Hope this makes sense!

Is there a way to do that same trick when you are in spot view?  I would love to find it!  Could use that to make some kind of invisibility cloak for a/c! :D
