Paint job screw up

when I do the paint job/ noseart, it always gets put in the wrong places on the plane. only happens on my laptop (specs in sig) I think it is either my OS or my vid card
Desktop specs:
P3 800MHz
256MB SDR RAM
80GB HD
GF2MX440 32MB SDR RAM
Creative Live 5.1 sound card
Windows Me

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+, nVidia GeForce 8800GT, 6GB RAM, and never enough hard drive space.
