C-130 Paint kit needed

Postby Azframer » Tue Jul 28, 2020 6:09 pm

I am looking for this paint kit if anyone can direct me to it.

I am working on the New Fat Albert paint scheme and I could upload this pretty soon if I could get my hands on the kit so I can snag the panels and rivet details.

I know it looks foggy right now, I am still trying to work out the alpha channel.

I still need to touch up the panel and rivets to get the colors right. I have to finish the wings which are not done in this picture. I started the wing but there is a ton of details. I had a bonehead move when I started the wing details. I didn't create another layer and just started working on the details in high contrasting colors and noticed I didn't create the layer to work on. It was easier to close without saving rather than back out of my mistake. I gave myself a good cussing for that.

I need to resize the Blue Angels fonts and touch up all the panel lines and also resize the Blue Angels shield on the tail and make the deicing boot, that needs to be larger. Also, I need to get the nose yellow to come to a point on the bottom centerline.
I have the aircraft config text made up and ready to copy and paste in place so you can keep the original Blue Angel paint that came with the set.
A few more days before I can get it uploaded.

I reduced the Gold Blue Angels fonts 10% and the Shield on the vertical stabilizer by 5%.

You should try looking on the Premier Aircraft Design website. There is one listed under "paintkits".

The only C-130J listed is the exact download I had gotten from Simviation with no paint kit on the page just for paint kits.

Can someone tell me if this paint works in P3D?

Your C-130 is an FS9 model with BMP textures. Like all the Premier Aircraft Design aircraft it's not fully compatible with FSX. (Display problems with transparencies like prop disks & textures won't display at all in DX10 Preview mode.)

From the little I know about P3D it will not be compatible with P3D v4 & later.

Is that the only problem? The only exterior file other than the prop was the elevator was BMP. I had to change the elevator to dxt3 to match the other textures so I could add the same alpha channel the elevator was missing.

To clarify. The texture format is not the problem. It's the MDL file which was created using the FS9 SDK. To be compatible with P3D it needs to be an FSX native model, created with the FSX SDK. There is no easy fix.
