I have been playing with some of the FS development tools for a little over a month.
I was not getting along very well with G-Max so I purchased a copy og FSDS. I learned FSDS in about 3 days. At least I was able to get past the place I got hung up with G-Max.
It looks to me as if there are 2 basic methods of texturing. With FSDS you paint the parts during constuction. I don't see a way to change the paint on a plane made with FSDS without reverting to FSDS and painting each part.
I have found dome airplanes that appear to be done this way. The bitmaps in the texture folder can be changed but the airplane doed not change.
I have tried modifing several airplanes where there were multiple textures. These all did what I expected. These all use the extended bitmap files rather than the normal flat bitmaps used with FSDS.
I guess I need to go back and do some simple objects wit G-Max to learn how it works.
I am a retired EE with over 20 years experiance working with 2D drawing tools. This has been my 1st experiance wit the 3D drawing tools.
