Color depth

Postby ShaneG_old » Sat Nov 22, 2008 6:08 pm

Is the color depth (ie. 8,16,24 bit) directly tied to the model file, or is there a way to change this and make it work. The F-16XL I'm repainting is 256 color 8 bit, and when I use that, the paint works fine, but when I try higher depths I get a blank plane, Is this just how it is, or is there a specific way to change it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

are you saving the texture with DXTBmp? if you save the file with that in the higher bit depths then it should work

32 bit is the highest that you can get for both FSX and FS2004 and is the highest quality. a 1024x1024 bmp in 32bit should be 4mb on the nose. if it is higher like 5.33mb then you saved it with mipmaps and you need to save it again with out mipmaps.
