Need Help about PSD files

I have seen several times when I download files, that there are some files for repainting following in the package.
What do I do with these files they are in a format called PSD files  ???
Are there any specific program needed to work with those files

You need photoshop, (or paint shop pro) to open them.

Shall I then copy the files into fx. paint shop pro ? or is there a tutorial somewhere to see/learn how to do ??

I tend to keep mine in the texture. folder that im working on, then just open them in PSP.

Once you get it open, it should be in layers, just see whats on each layer (turn visability off on them all, then back on one by one and see what appears)
