DXT3, 32bit

Postby pickup » Wed Nov 17, 2004 7:16 pm

I need a little help with the aircraft painting.  I can open the bitmap with DXTbmp and save it as 24 bit BMP image and paint the airplane and when I am finished I save it, as a extented bitmap. This works great for 2002 but when I put it in 2004  the paint job is blurred,
From what I read so far It has to be changed to a DXT3 and or 32bit.
My question is, what do I need to change it to this and where can I get it?
Can I change existing 24 bit image to 32  bit?

Hey Pickup,

All you need is DXTBmp, which you already have ;D

When you save the Bitmap as an Extended Bitmap, you are given a list of formats that you can save the Bitmap in (Save As Type), just scroll down the list and choose DXT-3 or 32 Bit.

Can I change existing 24 bit image to 32  bit?

Yes, Load the 24 Bit Bitmap in DXTBmp, then go to File --> Save As --> Extended Bitmap and choose Extended 32 Bit 888-8 from the dropbox menu next to the "Save As Type" writing.

Don't forget to de-select the Mip Maps tickbox on the right side of the screen when in DXTBmp.

Ok Great Thankyou very much. I was looking for something harder I guess.

I tried it and it works fantastic. I never noticed the drop box before.

Thanks again
