Another painting question...

Postby Blackbird971 » Wed Sep 01, 2004 3:22 pm

Is there a way to do metalic paint colors, such as like these cars?

I would like to do a cream white/metalic charcoal/metalic burgundy scheme for my CITX.

You can do this with any paint program, you just need to change the reflective properties (the alpha channel).  To do this, you need a program called DXTBmp.

Alphas don't work in CFS2, so the alternative is to build with "specular" materials under the textures.

Please tell me you aren't trying to fly a Citation X in CFS2 . . . ::)

Besides, the only ones I have seen are for either 2k2 or 2k4, and have reflective textures.

Hehe!;)

Okay, then using reflective textures will work just fine.  Just make the alpha channel's grey textures darker to add more shine. 128,128,128 works pretty well for good reflection.  Any more than that and you lose most of the color.

Oh, and make the colors da.  If you're using green, for instance, make it about 128,192,192.

Aim-9x's . . .::)
