repaint orignal texture

how do you repant the orignal texture on an aircraft that you download. every time i try it just takes all the color away and leaves me with a compleetly white airplane i have no idea what porgram to use or how to use it

How or what program do you use to repaint with.
If you want another texture for a airplane you can just add the texture you want with out having to do anything to the orignal texture.
A good example is look at the defaul B737 or B747 aircraft each aircraft has three different textures.
