It depends which texture template you used. If you look carefully you will see small differences in the engine and engine supports. It looks like you used the wrong template. Simple solution. Suggest you try throwing in a different model, ge or pw. The base package has all the models included.
Just replace the model in the model folder and don't forget the edit the model.cfg to point to the new model if necessary.

I would post the template here but it's 21mb


The RR version is included in the paintkit available here (I think, I've done a lot of repaints of this and I usually use the RR model for simplicity)

Another thought. You need to flip image in DXTBMP for DDS textures or leave it as is for BMP

In other words the tail textures are at the bottom of the template in BMP and at the top for DDS

The bmp and dds template is included in the paintkit linked above.
The fix is something very simple. Just mess around with the models and textures and you'll get it.

If you can provide a screenshot of your main.dds image and a screenshot of your model folder contents I can help further. It's one or the other
