It's one of these aircraft (like David Bushell's version of the same aircraft & Bonzonie's B-52) that just get 1000's downloaded every month - even if they aren't in the top 20 for that fortnight they are consistently near & they just continue in their popularity.

People just love these unique military birds & will continue to do so.

Also - the F-16's & F-15's -  have been repainted so many times that no one file gets those huge numbers - as there are so many to chose from.

:-/ I downloaded your beautiful SR-71 about a couple of days ago.. took it for a long one hour 40 minutes spin from LAX to PHL... overshot the runway by a bit at landing.... but I only have one problem regarding the panels on the plane: can't seem to get the GPS working at all, downloaded the add-on (I have FS2002, btw), and when I start up the GPS, it crashes the game.  >:( Do you know of a way to fix this kind of problem?

Does it crash using only the SR-71? Sounds like the gps gauge might be corrupted.

Try a different plane and see if the GPS still crashes the game, and we can take it from there.

Ric - from my experience using the SR-71 - when I turned the GPS on, it crashed (and restarted) the FS2K2 program... does the SR-71a model actually come with the GPS add-on, or do I have to download the add-on separately? I've done the separate add-on, but it's rated for FS2K and FS98.. wouldn't know about the compatibility for 2K2. I would like to hear your suggestions on fixing this GPS glitch here.

One more thing... do NOT bother to use the IFR when flying in a SR-71 - I've tried doing it once... they "rudely" hung up on me after 10 minutes in flight... due to the lack of the plane's ability to "fast-turn" to change heading.  >:( heh. Ah well, it was fun flying the rest of the way from LAX to PHL, passing so many airfields that I didn't know about or those I knew about but was surprised to be flying near it... Thanks for the excellent aircraft ;)

No, the GPS is unrelated to the SR-71. The GPS is actually controlled by a gauge called "Gps.gau". You can find this in the FS2002 gauges folder.

What we need to establish here is if its the gps gauge at fault, or something else. Try to recreate the flight as best you can but use a default aircraft. If it still crashes, then it probably is the "gps.gau" gauge.

If, on the other hand, it works fine, then it looks like maybe the panel.cfg file is faulty.

Like I said, try the flight again in another plane and let me know what happens, we can work from there.

Many times the questions asked - especially by experienced modellers - push the hobby that much further ... Many "aha!" moments come from such questions.

"How can you do this...?" questions can sometimes bring several interesting new twists....
