Autopilot Problem

This will probably get moved, but here goes.

I DL an add on aircraft and a new panel (heck the whole cockpit) that was supposedly designed for it. The aircraft is the SL188.zip from here on http://www.simviation.com/fs2004props18.htm The panel is "FS2004 Downloads: Lockheed L-188 Electra " fourth one down from the top at http://www.fsdownload.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=search#searchresults

Now, my issue. The Autopilot. The original aircraft as well as a couple others I've been working with work fine, until I add the new cockpit. The cockpit adds all kinds of cool looking stuff and comes with an "updated" .AIR and aircraft.cfg as well as new gauges and a bunch of panels, but when I use it the autopilot doesn't work right. The AP won't track on NAV or GPS. It will only do ALT Hold and HDG Hold.

What in the plethora of files dictates how the autopilot functions. I've changed the settings in the original .AIR and .CFG files to just use the new PNL folder, but I still have the issue. The only thing I can think of is that the problem lies in the gauge file itself, either the new L188.gau or the HSI.XML file.

Does anyone here know what I'm talking about or can anyone help me figure this out?

It's quite possible, if it is an historically accurate panel, the heading and altitude/pitch hold were the only modes available.

VOR was in it's infancy and GPS wasn't invented yet.

Cool, thanks for the input, Dave. I'll look into that. I'm looking at doing a repaint of it in the colors of the airline I used to work for, before they went under due to mismanagement from the owners.
