Well, apparently I have NO brains whatsoever today, becouse I just found the Gmax installer that is in the FSX SDK I had forgotten, and it works perfectly!

Now, can someone remind me of how to install the FSX Gmax game pack into Gmax?

On a clean, never before done installation of gmax/SDK

#1 - INstall gmax (whether from FS-2004/FS-X discs is no difference)

#2 - INstall the FS-X SDK from the FS-X DELUXE  RTM (RTM is the base FS-X DVD).  (Note, the gmax gamepack does NOT come with the RTM SDK)

#3 - DOwnlaod and install FS-X SDK SP1a  (You can jump SP1)  This includes the gmax gamepack.  Follow the instructions exactly and you end up with the proper installation.

If you have upgraded to FS-X SP2 or Acceleration, download FS-X SDK SP2 and install it also.  *or if you have Acceleration, install the ACceleration SDK*

Ok now I am confused?? I dont think you will see any changes with Gmax itself. the only place you can see the Gamepack is installed is when you export - the default does not have the export to .MDL , but when the gamepack is installed you will be able to export to MDL.

As long as you have a "c\:gmax/gamepacks folder" I think it is installed successfully.

To install the Gamepack as I said before, use the FSX(i've used FS2004)_sdk_gmax_setup.exe, and when prompted, install it to your c\:gmax\ folder. It then automatically create the gamepacks folder in gmax

If this is not what you wanted to know I am really confused  :-)

If I am wrong, please correct me . Ive never used the FSX SDK, but if it works more or less the same as FS9, this should help.

Within your installation of the SDK (SDK Sp1a) there will be a folder called "FSX_GmaxGamePack" in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Modeling SDK

Copy that folder complete, into your gmx\gamepacks folder.

Inside that FSX_GmaxGamepack folder is an icon/shortcut  "FSX_GMax" .  Send./move that to your desktop and USE that to start gmax "in FS-X"  mode
