Passengers?

Is there, or has there ever been a plane which had passengers modeled in? I understand that this would probably be VERY time consuming, and difficult, but today while flying Brett's new bird, I heard some passengers scream when I made a less than perfect landing, and it occurred to me that I have never seen this feature in any plane.

While these passengers are not interactive, and pretty much just sit there and enjoy the ride, they are there...

Do you mean modules as in my 'Modules' folder?  Or the SDK's?
I have all available SDK's for FSX & FS9, plus I also have Gmax installed.

In my Modules folder I have the standard FSX files, plus FSUIPC.dll and FSSound.dll.

Edit: after searching the sound folder, the two .wav files that have the screaming are : 732BELLY.wav and 732WINGSCRAPE.wav .

In my opinion, these sounds add a great deal of realism to the sim, as I'm sure this is how passengers would react during some of my landings, and more acrobatic flying. ;) I like them alot.[smiley=thumbsup.gif]

A couple of sound sets that I use (737NG and 747) have these screaming passenger sounds, which I agree does add to the ambience! My 737NG panel also has a gauge that monitors your final few feet to the runway, and if you make a nice soft landing the passengers burst into spontaneous applause (not flames), and the co-pilot says 'nice landing, buddy!'.

I haven't come across any modelled passengers in an airliner - cor, just think of all the polys you'd need! Pity really because there are a few nice planes that have virtual cabins, and they're all empty...

;)

I think I have that one also! (I occasionaly make good landings. :D ;) )

It is a shame about the passengers, They have modeled every aspect of aviation except that one. Maybe we'll get it in FS11 ;D

Another issue that you come across is finding someone that is actually good at modeling people to the realism level of the rest of the aircraft.

The only passenger models I have seen are included in the Dragon Rapide that I linked to above, and you can also see 3d passenger models in POSKY's CRJ-200 exterior, spot view model.

The HondaJet v4 by Mitsuya Hamaguchi has a modelled dynamic lady co-pilot and a passenger in a kimono, not to mention a fine DVC. The lady copilot is dynamic in more ways than one - when you turn the engines off, she teleports to the outside of the plane, waiting for the passengers. And the Fravin Cessna 150 Aerobat has two very animated flyboys inside, although you can't see them once you actually get inside!

Now what we need is a Lara Croft-lookalike airstew! I can dream, can't I?

I'm flying home from Germany tomorrow, so frohe Weihnacht in advance of next week, everybody!

;)

Getting people into the model is not a problem.  THere are several free people-modelling programs.  The problem is getting that mesh to a mangeable level!

For example, even getting a Poser 2 LoRes character into a modelling program can easily choke the program - not only are the fingers modelled, but the individual joints.   It's practically a separate project to rebuild a character into manageable "boxes"  that can be adequately textured.

If you're computer is having a hard time with frame rates while flying an empty commercial airliner, are you sure you want hundreds of people modelled into the DVC bringing fps down even further?

A single doll in the right seat (my famous copilots) has more poligons that the entire exterior model , I'm about to start a new Jet (January) ,and I don't think I am going to use females copilot anymore, too hard mapping ,and too weight for the game, etc , :o IMAGINE to fill all the seat with 20 passengers  :o

Besides ,people doesn't like it ,there will be just the exterior pilots.

They are in Bretts new plane. Just land a little too hard or make some belly scrapes, and you should hear them. ;)
