GMAX...

I've been trying to get into the 3D design do I can make custom scenery objects for various scenery updates I make...

Whenever I try to create new files, or click on anything this happens. The big white space doesn't stay there all the time, it changes every time I click on something.

Complete uninstalls and reinstalls (I've done it like 3 times) doens't help. Has anybody experienced anything like this?

Its seems to be a graphics card driver problem. try updating your drivers.

I currently have the most up-to-date driver for my card. I noticed on the install of gmax there was some driver set-up....could this be it?

in the main tab menu bar find

customize/preference/viewport/choose driver choose openGL or Direct, If it is in opengl change it to Direct and viceversa..

Did you tried to export something into bgl or mdl before proceed with your work?

No, I uninstalled the Make Model Plug In when I uninstalled Gmax...I need to reinstall it. Switching the driver to Open GL seems to have worked, hopefuly it will stick.

Well, I take that back actually. Now, when I try and click to select various verticies, my entire screen goes black when I click and hold something, then it comes back once I let go of the mouse.

Maybe your GPU is hot, mine does a complete screen refresh when i play FS for a while, it just does a refresh.

How do you do that part?  I know where the "file" and "export" is, but I do not see what or where to export it to, or how to save it as a .mdl.

Standard question:  What am I missing?

One solution to working around fixing that issue is to use software mode for the rendering... it works great for me at least until gmax comes out with a patch for users to install in the future. This seems to only happen with vista for some reason... anyways... Open up GMAX and then go to Customize -> Preferences ->  Viewports -> Choose Driver and select HEIDI and select Software Z Buffer then click on OK and the OK again.  Once you have done that you will want to restart the program for the settings to take effect.  ;)
