OK, first of all, let me just say that I've been an aviation fan all my life. I grew up reading about the likes of Howard Hughes, Chuck Yeager, Kelly Johnson, etc. For a couple of years I've drawn aircraft for fun, but I got the bright idea to design an aircraft for FS2004, and drew up some concept materiel for it.

Then I downloaded Gmax, ready to design an airplane-

Then I saw Gmax  :o

Somewhat daunted, I realized that it would take quite a while to figure out the program, almost all hope of creating the plane was dashed. I'm wondering if anyone with the skills and spare time would be interested in this. (I know, the sketches are kinda hard to read, but if someone is more interested I'll redraw them with far more adequate detail)

I was looking at the Hughes racer, and noted that it was, compared to later aircraft, equiped with a fairly small engine (a 700hp Twin Wasp). I set out with a goal to create a similar aircraft, with a Wasp Major (sources vary, but somewhere between 3,500 to 4,300 hp).

Such a massive engine would obviously guzzle fuel, so I ended up sketching up a very large design.

Note that the crew's cabin arrangement is unusual, with view being through a periscope and two Catalina style bubbles on the side.

Any takers? I'd be very grateful, as otherwise I doubt this will ever be made.

Added another sketch...did some rescaling mentally, and changed crew seating to side by side instead of tandem. Also, little more for the specifications

An interesting design.  But a few questions:

Why the large size?  That seems a large aircraft to carry just two people.  Are you wanting speed, distance or economical use of resources (fuel)?

What is the bulge in the middle of the aircraft?

IF I were to take this project on, can you be available to help with peripheral material.  Meaning textures, airfiles, and panels?

Rough sketches are all well and good, but if you have any way to create CAD drawings, that would be most helpful.

While you are waiting to have someone take this on - you could get into the tutorials for GMax.  That's how I started learning it.
By the time I got to the end of the tutorials, I also had the main parts of my aircraft done.  You could do the same.
Doing the 3D model is only one part of it.  You could also do a simple temporary model to to display while you test your flight dynamics file, and also do a virtual cockpit.
