Hi,
Downloaded a helo source file for Gmax and I need help. Haven't done any aircraft, only scenry thus far, in Gmax so I need some pointers on getting this thing to work. After reading the FSX SDK, I can't get the main and tail rotor to work at all. I also need any tips on how to get the main rotor to tilt, and pedals and stick animations. Is it all through naming conventions or do I need to "animate" these parts? Any info would be appreciated!! Thanks.

AJ is well know is difficult to configure modeldef.xml in gmax exportation ,FIRST of all you have to make sure you are exporting well in FSX-SDK and make an mdl ,trust me even some of the oldest designers still have trouble in this..
You can test it by exporting a box and see if this mdl have a size ,or you can even test it in FSX, before you proceed..

Hi,
I think I know what your talking about. I don't have a problem exporting, it's getting the rotor animations to work. In the FSX SDK, it talks about the animation tags, keyframes, and attachpoint , and I've tried numerous combinations, but still no luck!

you need to select the already animated part and then open the fs tool/Animation tool,.. select the animation and frame time , in a prop is 0-100 ,
The prop has to be animated before this a 360 degree turn , THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT:once you create the 360 move of the propeler you need to In animation parameters position ,rotation scale ,every 10
from 0 to 100
is 0-10-20-30-40-50-60-80-90-100 in all you need to mark position ,rotation and scale otherwise wont work ,you need to do this with the tires as well
once you have this animation this is what you will do as I said above open the animation manager and create this animation log ..
all animation before export have to be made in Animation Manager this is the great of FSX-SDK ...
If Fstools doesn't show in the bar menu go to Maxcript/Runscript/ and click on FSToolsMenu.ms

Ok, I took a look and I'm not clear when you say " mark position ,rotation and scale" in the animation parameters. Are you talking about in the animation toolbar/wiring parameters, or somewhere else?

I understand! I read about what you showed, but I think it was in the FS9 SDK. I was thinking it was another parameter I wasn't aware of, but now that you explained it, it makes perfect sense! I'll get back to you with the results!!

Well, I animated the prop 360 degrees, marked the position, rotation, scale, and used the animation tag with a time of 0-100, and still no rotation. I must be missing something :-/

Sorry Aj..I' being having a headache for almost 24 hours (migrain) ,Sorry about the delay...
Now lets see ,
After you make the animation did you do this?
[glow=yellow,2,300]This is something very important you have to assing an visibility attach point to this and and the rest of the proppeles Slow, still & ,Blurred Otherwise won't work [/glow]
here like this
this has to be made also for the tires ,and I forgot to tell you this!!
Only Propelers or jetengines and tires in all stages Prop, blurry, still requires an attach point visibility otherwise wont work.. were gonna make you prop works fine at all cost buddy ;)
waiting your reply..

Hi,
I did it, and still no luck. Would it be possible to send you the files to look? Maybe there is something else going on with the files. Either that, or I need to be on some sort of medication!!!

The Deal is for you to learn :-/ ,although if you want let me see that file ,the problem is if you zip it ,None of the emails are allowing to send zip and rar files ,you need just to send me the gmax file and the *.air and the aircraft.cfg file you using to put YOUR work here and see what's going on..

No reason I know of that you can't send zipfiles as attachments. You might have problems with other types of file.

Ok, Files just been sent. I don't have a problem with figuring things out, hell, I taught myself how to design scenery ect. Just can't seem to get past this one. I know it is something real small that I'm missing. Thanks for your time on this.
BTW: You might want to go back and edit out you email address now. I posted mine once, and ended up with tons of spam. Just a thought!

:-/ weird ,I got the zip without issues :-/ instead me always when I try to send a zip ,Hotmail, yahoo,AOL, all my emails shows me the middle finger..LOL
Ok So far everythings Is good exet two little tiny things [sarcasm] You haven't made the animation and I though it was an aircraft ,well is the same[/sarcasm]
Send me the textures at least of the propeler ,or send me all ,so I can put in the FSX and see what ARE YOU GOING TO DO!! ok?
hURRY because I left behind my 707 working to help you :P
EDIT, You Group this ,in FSX you don't need to do that ,each part can be separate ,exept for those who need to be Link as the gear etc..
No group and ungroup here
the animation needs to be done, also it has to be rescale all from 0 to 300..
