FSDS Mirror functions don't work!

I've just been modelling a bit in FSDS, when I remember that I've often tried to use the three mirror buttons but it never mirrored.
I would like to use it for the fuselage I'm just working on, but in which mode and how can I mirror?

The "Mirror" buttons in FSDS are used in cross section mode, to adjust the vertices in a symmetrical fashion.

What you want to do is copy the part, then  translate->flip x

Ok so I make a new tube part, then delete the polys of one half (but not the orphaned points to not get problems) and then shape only this half. After that copy and mirror X . You don't need to answer except anything I said is wrong. Thanks

IF that's what you're trying to do, no.

That's where the "symmetry"  buttons come into play.

Take your structured tube, with a reasonable amount of cross-sections (*as long as you have not destroyed the structure-integrity of the part, you can add cross-sections)

Hit F9 ( to go into cross-section mode).  Now you can adjust the individual points of the cross section.  IF YOU HAVE THE "X" symmetry button active, you will see that as you move a vertex point on one side, its complement will "mirror"  the movement.

Is there also a way to to do this with the same point from several cross sects simultaniously?

No.  If you want to make the *same* changes on several cross sections, once you have the first cross section as you want it, the Copy that cross section as a template (Cross section->Copy to template), select the next cross section (cycle, using the n or p keys) and conform the new cross section to the template (Cross Section->Conform to Template).

That's better than nothing. Thank you!

Once you get the hang of it, it's actually quite fast.

I usually do this to build up a fuselage, especially when the cross section change a little bit from one to another.  Adjust one, copy, select next, conform, adjust, go to the next, etc.

On the other hand, you can always, in point mode, select groups of points, and scale them appropriate (with respect to the part axis)

However, I find that when "building"  up a fuselage, I'll work in cross-section mode mostly.
