Mike has retired from designing several times.  Basically it's burnoout.

Mike is one of those guys that produces models HE likes for HIS enjoyment and many people have liked them.  Can one find "flaws"  in them?  Probably.  FOr a long time he didn't inlcude VCs, and some models didn't go overboard on fancy textures and eye candy.

My opinion? SO WHAT!!!

LIke many other freeware builders, he takes this as a hobby.  He's built everything from airliners, GA aircraft and some whimsical "concept"  planes.  Not everyone wants/needs/lusts after a perfectly modelled (all rivets modeled, not textured) airplane.

For every e-mail./posting praising him, he probably got several more nit picking e-mails/postings.

THere are a few modellers that limit their distribution to a few friends... if they distribute at all!

I liked many of his designs, mainly because they were basic.  The panels were all easy to use, the aircraft flew good, and it didn't kill my fps.  Not to mention, he modeled many aircraft that haven't been modelled by anyone else.

+1

I never really was interested in his model because the simplicity of his designs, but I never bothered to contact him to point out or judge his models. His flight dynamics and panels are great though! :)

Well, I prefer Models Designed to Fly weel and give Decent FPS. That's Why I liked Mike's Planes, Plus the Base Textures make repainting a lot easier.but some people want it all.

just goes to show that some people are just pure greedy, want the best for free. i flew a few of mikes GA creations and i realy liked them, especialy on my old system, as his models where easy on the frames and a joy to fly.

its a shame to loose such a great addition to the addon community. but life goes on

thanks mike :D

:'( these where some of my really favorite aircrafts!!! im very sorry ,but i think developers (freeware) should not take so hard user feedback for good or bad, i still have people demanding stuff for the f-5 or people who wants more, they should understand that THIS IS A HOBBY not our lives, we have family, wife, kids, real life jobs ..etc i think its common to have these crisis being one man team developer, when this happens you should turn off the pc and go fishing, again sorry about mike i feel very close to him trough his work and the way he models and he even has a real job in boeing aircft, so hes even making real planes i real life, hes a cool designer and a classic itself my first repaint was on his famous 727 lets show some respect on the man -my two cents

I'm on Mike's side- there's always people out there who nit-pick, want their particular taste's and likes catered to, and have no qualms about telling you. I build for myself. If you like it great - if not then delete it - want to make it better?  read the SDK documentation, spend hours gleening forums and knock yourself out. The problem is we live in a drive-thru society where everyone wants it supersized in the next thiry seconds and hold the onions. He'll be missed- I have flown his stuff since FS200 and have most of his stuff on archive and installed in FSX-
GOOD ON YA MIKE! - you deserve a break today
