How Does simvation.com make their airplanes?

Postby DellFly3r » Tue Mar 20, 2007 8:07 pm

Hello. I was interested on how simvation makes their airplanes. Is their a program they use, do they just find downloads? Someone please respond if they know how they make their planes. THANKS!
Wait, I'm not supposed to turn all of the engines off in mid-air?

Simviation doesn't make airplanes, they are a website that creators can post their aircraft on.  Most airplanes are made by a creator or group and released on this website and others like it for others to enjoy.  Most are made using FSDS or GMAX, both of which are fairly complicated programs to use for those of us without much CAD (computer aided drafting) experience or skills.

You can buy FSDSv3 from www.abacuspub.com. They always send me emails about upcoming sales, usually around major holidays. I suspect there will be an Easter sale. A sale gets you up to 40% of when you buy three titles. Hit their site and check it out...
emachines T6212; AMD Athlon64 3800+ (2.40 GHz; Venice core); Allied AL-B500E 500W power supply; 2048Mb PC3200 DDR400; Westinghouse LCM-22w2 wide-screen LCD monitor; eVGA e-GeForce 7900 GS KO X16 PCIe video card; Logitech Extreme 3D Pro flight controller;<

Alrot, I thought you were another creator.  I didn't realize there was any particular affiliation with simviation, other than being a member of this message board.

I think Alrot is having fun with you.  He's not actually officially affiliated with the site, though he is almost a permanent fixture here in the forums.  He sure is a great guy to have in your corner when it comes to making things.  :)

As for making planes, it's a lot like sex after children.  It's a long slow painful process that you have to do...

Your first step would be to go here:

http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax

and download Gmax.  This will get you started, and depending on who you ask, is a much more comprehensive tool than FSDS (sorry Felix!).  FSDS will be easier to learn, but it's not free and the tools are better in Gmax.

Also, I am moving this thread to the design forum, where you'll get much better answers for your question, from people who know a hell of a lot more than me...  :D

I was going to say something earlier in this thread... you could see the language mix-up coming from a mile away... but I decided it was not my place.

I'll risk it now

Steady-on, alrot, my old Chum...!

We are pulling your leg with a bit of fun....it's what Sim V'ers do...;)...!

The word "Dude" is a phrase normally only used in the big Continent located to your North....
...especially in the State of Texas...

...trust me... ;)...!

In Europe we are "Chums", "Lads", "Mates", ..."Arse-oles?", etc, etc... 8-)...!

(Note: Jimbo's Tours)...;)...!

In Venezuela it is "Com-padre'"... ::)...?

All in good fun, for a laugh, Alex... ;D...!

Paul...Champion Leg-Puller... :-*...!
