How can I add heat FX?

How can I add heat heat FX like the ones from military jets exhaust? I really really like it!!!

the ehat exhausts are *usually* done by creative texturing..... a part (cone, cylinder, etc) with a very low opacity/transparency and a texture to match.....  typically, you'll tie it, by XML coding, to a throttle position variable, or some such...

Hmmm... I think you're talking about the afterburner.  I wanted the blur that comes up from the hot fumes.

it's the same thing... a quasi transparent part with the "shimmer" textured in.  The main problem you'll have is getting it to "shimmer" so it doesn't appear to be a static part.  *possibly* you can name the part as a propeller?
