FS2004 Export Question.

Could someone refresh me on the exporting of a model for FS2004. If I remember correctly I need to link all interior parts to a dummy object set at the eyepoint. Exterior parts need to be linked to a dummy object set at 0,0,0, and then saving the interior model as seperate model merge them together for exportation. Also how important is the capitalization on the parts. I know that FS2002 uses lower case and FS2004 uses upper case to begin its part names. Thanks Greg.

From my knowledge, you have to group everthing  Exterior, from their the internal and cockpit parts need to be grouped up and named Interior, or attached to the Exterior.

And the model, or CG (center of gravity) location needs to be positioned on the (0,0,0) Coordinates.

Not to sure about dummy objects, I know their for animations, what are you excatly haveing probs with?..

Hey Sky. Have'nt had to much problem yet. Of course have'nt tried to many FS2004 exports yet using the 2004 Makemdl. ;D I'm sure that Locke was telling me a while ago that the 2004 Makemdl. needs to be set up with dummie objects. If I remeber correcltly he said that grouping was fine for 2002 but they changed it for 2004. Using a grouped model from FS2002 Makemdl works fine except for some annimations that do'nt work like the cowlflaps and  flaps. Pretty sure that there is a difference between Keyframes that are exceptable between FS2002 and FS2004. Or it may be something in the CFG like a difference in electric or hydraulic system not sure just yet. Can you provide any insight? Thanks Greg.

Oh, I think your having probs with keyframe animations/part names?

The Fs2004 keyframe time differs from Fs2002, the animation time is different and the part names.

Example found in MakeMDL,

"Function"= "Cow Flaps" "Ex. Aircraft =DC3" " Part Name  (# = Number)" = Cowl_Flaps#  "Parameters" = "Key 0 = Closed,  Key 100 = Open   "

I thought maybe your parameters were wrong? These part names are all included in MakeMDL, if your not sure of  parameters etc?

Dummy box, allows you to attach your animation withought having the dummy animated, so your gear will be animated and grouped to the Dummy box  attached to the aircraft. Or you can group your whole front main, "Aux_Gear" and animate with the paramaters attach to the exterior ect. part names found in MakeMDL. -Hope this helps. :)
