Video Tutorials, any good programs to make one?

Postby Moach » Thu Jun 29, 2006 1:40 pm

well i couldn't think of any other board to ask this...

i've learned a bunch of cool stuff that would be a ton of help for many FS designers out there, so i wanted to make one of those video tutorials, like the one that explained using LOFT to make a plane's nose...

what i need is some program that can screen capture into video, plus adding sound, so i can explain things...

what should i use to make something like that?

I would suggest that you ask Nick Whithome over at Scenerydesign.org. He is the only one I've seen that has made a few. I know for sure his name is Nick but not sure on the last. Hes well known over at the Org.

Hi Moach - haven't seen you around here for a while.

People seem to recommend FRAPS, which sounds like it'll do what you want - haven't tried it myself. It's freeware and you can find it easily on Google. It generates standard Microsoft AVI files so you should be able to put sound over the top with a half decent video editor.

Sorry, Fraps will only record in full-screen programs, and not even every full screen program, it has to be supported.

the best programm to screen capture a programm in Camtasia. That's what my college teachers use to make video tutorials for a design programm called Catia V5
althaugh the programm costs about 300$ :(
but worth to look for demo version.
