I assure you that you better get a bottle of aspirin ready because that's a major headache. ;D

Scroll all the way down for some info regarding two important and handy programs.
http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 6;start=15

Download the Makemdl SDK and Gmax Gamepack SDK from here.
http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsi ... sp#makemdl

Go here if you want to export a model using the latest export technique that has a lot of advantages over the old traditional export technique.

I hope this helps and good luck.

PS: Let Soui know if you need a straight jacket. ;D

f16fightingfalcon,

Unfortunately, it looks as if your thread got hijacked.

Basically, you need two things to export to FS9.

1.  Plugin FSModelExp.DLE - with this, when you export, you have the option now to export aircraft or scenery objects.  This program interfaces with gmax to build the intermediate .x file for your model. This file is the input file to Makemdl.exe which is the compiler that generates the .mdl file for FS9.

2. MakeMdl.exe - the compiler that generates the .mdl file.

So, the flow is like this:

gmax--->FSModelExp.DLE--->MakeMdl.exe--->FS9 .mdl

Do a search on these items, get the required programs, set them up and you are ready to export to FS9.

Sorry I can't go into more detail but you will find many others have.  The important thing to know is the flow and what programs are required.  Have fun.

this is what ive got so far.

im able to make the bare model to fs9, but i have no idea how to: make the cfg; connect the animations to the correct input (example: make the propellors stop when you turn the engine off); stuff like that...

You can start with using the Templates folder in the Aircraft folder of FS9.  There are .air and .cfg files available to start any engine type.

Download the Aircraft Container SDK for details of the cfg file.

Regarding animations, assuming that if props are moving that you have used proper Makemdl Tag names, then once you have decent flight model setup, these things should work correctly.

Otherwise, give more specifics about the issues you are having.
