Cessna 172M Flight Model

Postby falcon25 » Mon May 08, 2006 11:16 pm

How difficult is it to change an aircrafts flight characteristics ?  Years ago I was the proud owner of one of these aircrafts, I could land this aircraft from 1000 feet over the end of the runway by reducing the speed to just above the stall speed as I applied the flaps (full). Point her to the ground and never have the speed increase beyond 72 -75 Knots, try this in FS9 and you have no hope of stopping the beast accelerate beyond these speeds. I would just love it to achieve this type of performance. Any help appreciated.

im not sure how just using the .cfg, but you can increase the flap drag and lift in the .air file
What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....

Open the aircraft.cfg with Notepad.
Find the Flaps section.
Change the ...

lift_scalar = 1.0
drag_scalar = 1.0

... as necessary to achieve the desired result.  Each .1 equals a 10% change, therefore 1.1 equals a 10% increase in lift/drag.

Not having much luck, have changed all sorts of settings (lift/drag) but still can't get this girl to slow down.  Any ideas.

Check to ensure your aircraft weight is not full, cargo and fuel.

Secondly, are you sure that the throttle when pulled back is at zero percent.  In the VC, point your mouse and look at the tooltip (if turned on) to check throttle percentage.

It could be that even at low throttle in FS, you are getting more than RW thrust.
