Installing aircraft into FS2004

I printed the instructions given somewhere about how to install aircraft. I get to the point where it reads "Using Windows Explorer open in 2 windows each occupying 1/2 of your screen." The problem is that I don't know how to open Windows Explorer in two windows. I can see the downloads, I can see the little + and - marks, I can click and see the subsequent files. I am trying to downlaod the F7F-1 Tigercat and I see a subordinate folder for the gauges that is slightly kicked to the left of the four magic ones containing the files we all know and love so much. Is getting the gauges file into the sim an extra step? How exactly is it done if it is?

Why would you want to?  The Grand Caravan Amphibian is already one of the default planes in FS2004.

Maybe I haven't found it or looked for it yet.

So how do I run Windows Explorer in two screens as the insertion instructions dictate?

Step #1 Go to Start->Programs->Accessories and click open on Windows Explorer.

Once your first  instance of Windows Explorer is open,
repeate Step #1

OK, I did that. I see only one screen with two "My Documents" in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. I'm seeing what can only be described as one page of a book atop another. I see no Windows Explorer in two screens.

Try going to a different folder in one of the windows.  They're both there, just on top of one another.  Resize the windows so you can see both, then navigate to the correct folders.

I'm using XP Home with the Media something 2005 attached, if that helps.

What about this...

Navigate to and then COPY the aircraft folder from FS2004 to the Desktop. Open my downloads folder and drag/drop, "Send To..." or otherwise get the downloads into the copy on the desktop, then replace the original MSFS aircraft folder with the copy. The original is saved somewhere safe, such as in another folder or on CD? Would this work? I haven't the time or chestnuts to try it right now-- just looking for thoughts and opinions at this time. I'm trying this because I can't seem to get Windows Explorer to open in two windows on one screen, as the insertion instructions describe. Thanks.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that as soon as I get some sleep. It was a long night over to the Oakland area and back...
