Setting turboprop engines

Postby Staiduk » Fri May 05, 2006 4:56 am

'Lo!

I've a very lovely turboprop aircaft; and I've been tweaking it to get it to where I want. I've one problem left: it starts to accellerate from idle. IOW; the engines are at idle, and with the brakes off it'll quickly pick up speed, eventually to takeoff if the runway's long enough.

I've tried everything - I know simply adding weight would correct the problem but I'd like to correct this without affecting the ship's flight. Any ideas?

This is a problem many, many people have encountered in the War Against Airfiles.  That being said, I would recomend you head over to the FFDS Flight Dynamics Forum and see what's there.  I'm almost sure the problem has been addressed over there before, and if not, there's sure to be someone there that can give you a good start.

BTW, this is an airfile problem, not a config problem, so don't look for the answer there. ;)

I've noticed that my engines do that, (always a jet or turboprop) but my problem is my joystick throttle is configured wrong, my throttle at idle will say 3 to 6% and i roll, i usually feather the prop, or set the parking brake  ::)
What do I do you ask? I struggle! Then destroy! Then try to put back together what I just broke on accident.....

Thanks Locke, lots of good info there. I don't know if the course I took was 'right'; but it seems towork. :)

Cheers!
