Trouble with "AirUpdate" & I need help

Postby Gringo6 » Mon May 01, 2006 10:27 pm

I am trying to edit section 1524 of a F-104C to provide a afterburner (as the real one has), using Jerry Beckwith's  "AirUpdate" which I downloaded at this site.

I get the air file edited okey and the data on the afterburner is reinserted in the air file and installed in section 1524 BUT---

With this airfile I get an brief error message and the computer locks up.

I have compared the two .air files (one works and one doesn't) and the only difference in in the table for afterburner vs. mach  in section 1524.

It has to be the .air file because I can change out only the .air file and it either works (with the original file) or it doesn't (with the revised .air file).

I guess this is really a computer problem rather than an aerodynamic problem but it's driving me up the wall.

Please will somebody help me ?

Bill, this is a little prog I have had headache after headache with in the past.  Its always very complicated dealing with airfiles.  I have trouble editing the config file, so messing with the airfile is far beyond me.

The bits that make up the airfile are very tuned.  A little twitch out of line, you have a FUBAR situation.

I bet that if you hopped over to the FFDS (Free Flight Design Shop) forums, you'll find the answer.  They have a whole section devoted to airfiling.

;D
I claim as mine any model from anywhere that develops terminal "bouncing betty" syndrome, or that has its flight dynamics otherwise fubared!
