Modeling with 3DMAX (not gmax)

I've seen a few progress shots by a few guys here, and they are using 3DMax to model.

Well, I do as well, but my question is, do you guys have a plugin that allows you to convert to MDL right from MAX or do you have to export as DXF, and then import it back into gmax to create the MDL? (which is what I do at the time)

There is an exporter script that will export the max file to a direct X file, which is then processed through makemdl.exe directly.

I believe the script is the Pandasoft converter.

Check the FFDS (http://www.freeflightdesign.com) tutorials section for a tutorial on using the Pandasoft converter.

Or,  maybe one of the Maxheads in this forum can give you better details.

As an aside, I understand that Microsoft will create scripts for Max 5,6,7,8 to create the direct X file....

Yes, what Felix sais,
you would use the Pandasoft plugin to export to x-file and load this one straight into makemdl.
Pandasoft is here:

And these are the exporter settings that work for me:

There is a pandasoft version for Max 8 on that page. ;)
