Latest or Best GMAX

Postby N051391 » Thu Apr 06, 2006 8:47 am

Hello, me again ;)

I downloaded Gmax from turbosquid.com and i was just wondering if this was the latest version, i downloaded gmax 1.2. is this the latest one out there?

If this isn't the latest...is this still a good version to use?

thanks
alex

Yes... 1.2 is the latest (and according to discreet, the last version, since it will not be further developed).

Yes, 1.2 is the latest and unfortunatly the last, I will not explain why this will be the last version but it's always available for download off Turboquid's site. The 1.2 version is very powerful and used proffesionally you can do all sorts of neat stuff, well just with alittle patience and that sort... :)

Your mental heatlh is in doubt ....

Just wait until you get it in FS9 ...  heehee

Okay!  If you notice, the P38 is actually reversed in the tutorial.  Your left view is actually the airplane's RIGHT side, similarly your TOP view should have the nose pointing UP.

Many a person has compiled the P-38 into Flightsimulator only to have it fly backwards...

LOL, really this is making me laugh, "and i understand everything"

"I gave up on Gmax and bought FSDSv3"..

LOL OMG ....I can't really post what I want.... Geeeez people. ::) ::) ::) ::) when people make these comments I can really tell what type of person you are, Inpatient, non-full filled minds lol... :-X

SkyNoz, it's not the tool, but the artist.  Not all fantastic models out there are made with gmax/3DSMAx, etc.

To some, gmax/MAx comes easily, but to others, FSDS is easier to learn.  gmax?/Max IS definitely the more powerful modelling program, but you also have to be aware that you can use more features than FS can handle through the exporter.

For gmax users, let's hope that the current exporter will be able to provide output for the next generation of makemdl.exe that will come out for FS-X.

N' - Although I'm a die hard FSDS fan, I do dabble in gmax - enough to be dangerous.  IT's just that I find FSDS " easier" to use.

The tutorial the SkyNoz is pointing out is excellent, and flight simulator specific.  (As you learn, it doesn't matter whether it's for FS2002, FS2004, CFS2... you're learning the program and how to get the model into FS, the nit picking details can come later!)

We have more tutorials at Freeflight Design Shop (FFDS) along with complete gmax source files - including Milton's excellent planes (Studying and understanding them means you're in flightsim modelling graduate level...)

Gmax is free.  Just go to the Turbosquid website and download it, or I'm pretty sure its on one of the ACOF disks . . .
