landing gear cover animation in FSDS3 ?

Postby 5thranger » Sat Feb 11, 2006 1:25 am

hello all, first time poster.

I just finished my very first plane using FSDS 3 and I have pretty much all the animations I need completed, but for some reason, my brain stopped working and I can not figure out how to make the landing gear covers open and close.

I have keyframed them open and closed, at different locations within the 100 frames margin, etc.

I've named them everything but dummy....yet I can't make them work, my landing gear always goes throug the closed covers.

Any pointers?

Thanks in advance.

Naming is likely the issue.  l_gear_door1 and 2 should work.  Be sure that you have the underscore after gear.

Milton,

that was exactly it!

I wonder why this kind of info is not so easilt available. I have the MS SDK and I couldn't find these names. FSDS doesn't have them listed either in their standard part names definitions.

I wonder how many more "secret" part names are out there.

In any event, thanks for the reply and prompt help!

The important tag is "l_gear" in this instance.  You could have called it l_gear_poop, or l_gear.1, etc.

This is in the SDKs, and in the FSDS parts name drop down dialog (key frame animations).

In FSDS, if you select l_gear as your door tag, and you already have an l_gear part, your new part will be tagged l_gear.1, which is perfectly acceptable.
