Project Chevy: Part VI

Visual Model:

Right now, I haven't made any improvements to the visual model other than create new texture sets for it. So far, I came up with at least six sets.

Gauges and Panel:

So far, I made a 2D panel completely from scratch [a screenshot of the DVC] and I used the original gauges from the Ferrari because those gauges seem to match very well to the real-world version of the Chevy gauges. However, there won't be any gauges on the DVC itself because I was experimenting with light maps the gauges themselves, but something went wrong and now the gauges won't show up on the DVC except on the 2D panel.

Sounds:

I tried editing the video that Richie sent to me. It's a video of an actual Chevy model running on idle. However, even with a commercial sound editing tool like MP3 Maker Pro or video editor like Movie Maker, I still can't get the sounds of the video [it's a quicktime video]. I even used analog recording devices that are plugged into the computer via the headphone jack, but that still only produced a near-silent sound recording of the engine [as if someone just lowered the volume].

Therefore, after every failed attempt, sounds from the Ferrari will also be borrowed. But before I finalize on those sounds, does anyone here have any ideas as to which other car addon I should borrow the sounds from?

Overall:

Since the sounds are all that's left to settle, the project might be finalized as early as thanksgiving [way earlier than I expected].

Other than that, the visual model is great. All I need now is volunteers to test out the nearly-complete package. PM me if you like to beta test and I'll send you the addon though either e-mail or MSN Messanger.

Update:

Sounds:

I finally managed to get the sounds from Richie's quicktime video and convert it *.wav format. For reasons still unknown to me, my hand-held sound recorder decided to cooperate with me.

Now that I have the needed *.wav, I then made some edits to it with MP3 Maker [to remove some anamolies in the sounds] and then used FS Sound Studio to program the sound for the Chevy. The Chevy sounds better now.

Thanks for the video, Richie.

Dynamics:

I also managed to fix some of the major quirks. The car no longer flips when you shut off the engine or use the Pushback function. Not only that, I seem to have regained the car's ability to do donuts. At this point, I'm not making anymore edits to the dynamics for fear of losing those abilities.

I still need a beta tester, though. The chevy works fine and dandy on my system, but I don't know if will act differently on other people's systems.

The Chevy could do with gauges in the DVC. :)

Also, the Ferrari always runs at 1-3 FPS...?
