Progress Report

Postby Katahu » Fri Oct 07, 2005 2:00 am

This is a complete report of how much was done in Project Chevy in a span of barely half a year.

>Visual Model
>>Animations include steering wheel [with realistic rotation], pop-up headlights, doors, engine hood, rear compartments, accelerator, power windows, gear stick, suspension system, steerable front wheels. Engine has been made with many of the small parts n it and will likely be animated.

>Textures
>>Alpha channels on car surface and rims. Light maps applied for headlights and taillights [lightmaps also prevent see-through effects at night]. PSP source textures included. Textures are converted to proper formats to be better utilized for FS.

>Dynamics
>>Four-wheel concept implimented rather than the five that was implimented on the Ferrari by Charles. Received NO reports from users regarding the dynamics of the Beta Chevy. I'm still standing by for any.

>Panel
>>2D background of the panel [one for monitors with standard aspect ratio and another for monitors with widescreen aspect ratio]. Not yet programmed with the *.cfg file.

>Gauges
>>No one has stepped forth with Chevy gauges. If proper gauges for the Chevy are not found within a reasonable amount of time [at least half a month prior to release], gauges from the Ferrari or other car addons will be borrowed with the permission of the authors.

>Sounds
>>Haven't started on it yet.

At this rate, I estimate that the project should be done by Christmas of this year. I hope. It will be a great present for such an occasion. ;)

Update: I forgot to mention that I have gotten at least one sound file made by Richie. I can make a whole sound package with this one file, but it will be better if I had at least the ignition sounds.

Thanks to MP3 Maker Pro [commercial] and FS Sound Studio [payware], I can make the one file I have to create different reving noises for the changes in RPM.
