MakeMDL

Postby crawl55 » Wed Aug 31, 2005 8:16 am

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible for me to use the model tha I have created in 3ds max and a model that I have created in gmax in make mdl at the same time?

The point of this is so that I can add effects to the model?

For instance, say that I want to attach something to a part in 3ds but the exporter wont export that certian data...so...

I create the part in gmax with the same properties and names, but instead of exporting it to the sim i use the tools for makemdl which will allow me to just export the x-file

now i will open up a seperate version of makemdl and add both x-files...and compile togther

is this possible by any means???

Technically, yes.

However, can't you export your 3dMax model to 3ds format, import into gmax and compile from there?

Does the covnersion to 3DS format cause a loss of UVW mapping/.animations?

There should be no real problem when exporting collapsed meshes.
BTW, there's alway the option to use Bobo's File Format for converting files from Max to Gmax.

It's not explicitely stated but BFF works also with Max7
