Making ATC call you by your livery.  ??

Postby Gary R. » Sun Feb 20, 2005 7:22 pm

I get a little annoyed flying some planes when ATC calls me by the plane's model number or experimental or something that has nothing to do with the paint job on the plane.  What I'm saying is that I want to know specifically which ac.cfg line to edit that would make ATC address my flight according to the livery.  I notiiced there are several lines with similar info on them and I can't always determine which one ATC reads to call me.  Any help??? Thanks

Well, if you want ATC to call you by your airline, set the following lines in your CFG:

atc_id=N821AM
atc_airline=American
atc_flight_number=521
atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="747-400"
ui_variation="American Airlines"

ATC, when referencing you, will use American 521 Heavy in this example. If you left atc_airline and atc_flight_number blank, it would refer to you as Boeing 821 Alpha Mike or something to that general effect.

Doing what Sartoga said will help but it is not a guarantee
The best way is to down load the edit voice pack from microsoft. Just go to the official page for FS2004 and click on downloads. Just follow the instructions and that will take care of just about all of the call signs out there. Including ones for a lot of the VA'S as well.

Okay, thanks to both of you.  I don't why designers don't automatically reference the airline or livery in the .cfg for ATC.  Maybe they put a lot of effort into the overall package and that's more or less an after thought. Thanks.
