Borrowing Effects Files - Question

Before using any effects files for my own purposes, I ask the originator for permission, of course the same consideration would be expected for any work that I had created.

what i would do in a situation like yours is to use the files anyways and add a disclaimer in your readme file saying:
"this addon includes files from 3rd party designers, it is not my intention to take credit for them in any way"

i don't think that would be wrong, since you're borrowing files that are freeware, just don't borrow from payware - that would be stealing

that's what i would do...  *don't kill me.... :P

The author of the effects is Rob Barendregt - do a search on his surname at Avsim and you'll see a list of his work. Any of them contain his email address.

Thanks guys - turns out Rob is not even aware where these effects came from, however I found some real goodies to download, particularly an automatic afterburner control file!  Really impressive stuff! Wouldn't have known about it without your help.:)
