Update on Project Porsche

I have recently discovered that the main reason why my model has been out of control [in terms of scaling] was because some of the objects within the model itself was causing some type of disruption with Gmax's export process [if I understood it right].

After I have deleted the culprits, my model is finally and officially under control.

Just to remind you, the Mercedes seems to be slightly oversized if you were to park it next to a plane. This is one error I overlooked before I released it.

How does this have to do with Project Porsche? Simple. You are going to see the same thing with the 1998 Porsche 911 GT2 R because it appears that the model can't be reduced in size any further. I guess it has something to do with the spline technique [there are a lot of polygons still].

I also had to modify the design of the female driver. Basically, I took had to take certain measures to ensure that the model appears properly in FS.

It now seems that the Makemdl, Mdlcommander, and Middleman utilities were just working fine. It was the model itself that caused the problem.

Now that I am done fixing the visual model, I am now in the next phase of contruction. Applying the animations.

I will post screenshots as soon as possible.

I am still open for any fresh ideas from any of you. Any ideas in regards to the Porsche construction. Animations, textures, beta testing, etc.

Once I am done with the animations, I will move on to creating the dynamics of the car.

I have the pics for the Porsche and the Ferrari now. These pics are for size comparisons between the Mercedes and the other two cars.

There will no doubt in your mind that by looking at these pics, you WILL see the difference.

It's a shame that Red doesn't go well in *.jpg file. :P

I have not yet started on the interior of the Ferrari yet.

I have already begun on the dynamics of the models. I am using the *.air file of the Mercedes as a reference for the new cars. I have already altered the weight, thrust, contacts, and geometry specifications. Later on, I will set the *.air files so that they will operate on a piston engine and NOT on a jet engine like the Mercedes.

Hey Bman, can provide the interior photos of the Porsche and [if you have time] of the Ferrari? I have already found some photos of the Porsche exterior.

For Textures, I will use a combination of M$Paint, Adobe Photoshop 7.0, and DXTBMP.

It's pretty hard to find any Porsche or Ferrari here on base [or off base] here in Arkansas. I say this because I am searching for some sounds to record and edit for the sound files.

Now that red Mercedes looks way better than the one I made. :o I'll admit that.

How is the dynamics of that model you have there? I assume it doesn't jump up as high as the blue Mercedes. ;D

One thing I have just noticed: My Porsche and the Ferrari don't have side view mirrors. :P ::)

Let me get my little green note pad that has the word "Zyrtec" printed on it and write down a reminder about the mirrors. ;D

Are you afraid someone's going to overtake you?  Why do you need mirrors?  :)

I have recently made changes to the rim design of the Ferrari Enzo. It now has five points rather than 4 (compared to my last screenshot above).

I am now setting up the eyepoints for the models so that I'll be able to moniter the progress of the interior more better. Once I'm done with that, I will start work on the texture files of the Porsche.

Unlike the Mercedes, the Porsche's textures will be complex and will require careful editing of the *.bmp files so that the textures could line up and fit well.
