Hi Stiz,
looks the business, given any though to a livery yet? RAF?, Coastal Command?
If you eventually decide to put it up on simvi' dont forget us poverty stricken 56k modem users :'( & keep the zip file size down, some good stuff  i wont try because of the file size, package it perhaps ??? basic aircraft - skin (s) -  panel - sounds ?
Go for it.

Hi Happ

yes i have thought about doing liverys. 1 is for a plane that was stationed at RAF Elvington (seen in pic) which is the main one. The reason being is that I started building the Halifax so it would go with my scenery.

I have also had a personal plea from someone at Sim Outhouse so i'm going to do that as well.

Also might do a 78 sqn repaint for someone, again at sim outhouse, who worked on restoring one.

Apart form them I haven't thought about any more. If anyone has any requests then just post and will jot it down for a later date.

As for keeping the file size down for the 56k modems, thats a must for several reasons:

1, I am one of those "poverty stricken 56k modem users" and hate it when you see the add-one you have just spent several hours trying to find and then you find its a 15 meg download.

2, The bigger the file the longer it takes to upload and I dont paticulary want to sit for ages waiting for it to upload (yes i do know i'm lazy :)).

What i suggest you do though is get a download accelerater. I'm downloading a 36 meg mesh file and only have to wait another hour and 45 mins with 32% at the moment and best of all the accelerater is FREEWARE  :D, normally this size of download would have takin me at least 4-5 hours so its the best 1.4 meg download i've ever done (to date that is).

Since this is a design forum, you just can't come in here and tease us with pretty screenshots!  At least say if you're using FSDS, gmax; if there are any particularly 'difficult' modelling points you've come across.  After all, we want to look academic, instead of just salivating over a nice looking build!

Like that other Brit bomber, the Lancaster (I still think the Halifax is a cleaner design), the Halifax was used by more than the RAF.  You may want to consider a set of bare bones textures - panel lines etc., - that one could use to make additional repaints.

You may want to consider also follwoing up with the transport versions.

Hi

This thread was in the CFS2 general disscusion forum then ozzy72 moved it for some unknown reason  ???.

Anyway,

I'm using FSDS v2.24. As for the modelling difficulties so far.....where to start....well there was the cockpit windows and brackets but with help from Merlin66 over at Sim Outhouse i got that sorted. Engines are getting me annoyed as are the airilons, elevators and rudders.

One thing i havent managed to do yet though is the gear flaps. I havent figured out how i would cut them out then animate them to close just after the gear has gone up, anyone know how to do it?

I was originaly planning to do all the Halifax versions that took part in WW2 and the transports after the list is as follows:

MK I, MK II, MK III, MK V, MK VI and the MK VIII.

For those who are wondering where the MK IV has gone it was never put into production so really there is no MK IV.

Gear flaps?  Not gear doors?

IF their motion is dependent ONLY on whether the gear is extended or not, then they're part of the landing gear animation, and would be key framed as x_gearnn parts.

Side note -the Mark IV was a special with a bottom coclpit for ozzy to fly inverted.

Seemed pretty pointless to start a new thread so i'll put it in this thread.

I remade the whole thing everythings different to what it was originaly.

Managed to get the gear the gear and gear doors moveing, just a few more things to fix then the outsides done.

What do you think?

Nice work Stiz.  Will it be available for FS2002?

Oh, it's far too clean.  ;-)
