Contact Points

I'm looking for something that explains how to edit contact points in aircraft.cfg files. I did a forum search and found little on the topic. Is there a tutorial somewhere that explains how this is done?

I have some aircraft that I'm porting over from FS 2002 to 2004. Everything else works OK but the float planes jump up about 500 ft every time they touch water. Seems the problem is in the contact points. I copied the .cfg file from a plane that works in 2004 and got them to stay near the ground but since the height is different my airplane floats about three feet above the water. Some non-amphibs also tend to float above the runway.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Cool trick with the lights. Never would have thought of that one.

Assuming you're making your own aircraft.

Instead of fiddling with changing the lights, entering FS, changing the lights, entering FS, etc try this:

Select the vertex that you want to be the contact point on the wheel (or whatever).  Note the positions in the X,Y,Z entry boxes and then paste that info directly into the config.  Works every time.
