Rocket boost

Postby AndyG » Tue Aug 10, 2004 8:05 am

OK, here's an interesting one for all the airfile/config experts out there!  I'm working on a number of projects that are jets, with an additional rocket booster.  From a dynamics point of view, can anybody think how I might go about simulating an additional engine with a limited fuel capacity?

For example, I want to add a RATO effect to the B-47, which would have an additional 18000 lb of thrust, but only for a short duration.

All help GREATLY appreciated  ???

I can't think of any way to limit the fuel capacity of an engine before it burns out. The best thing I could think of would be afterburner. You can find someone to program a gauge to turn it off after a certain amount of time.

A not so good solution would be two identical B47s; one with standard jet engines, one with the V1 rocket motor from CFS1. It would require switching between aircraft on takeoff. ????????
