How would you go about producing a thrust vectoring tail cone for a jet in fs2k2 using fsdsv2? Seems like you would use a variation of the method used to create an animated stick. Anyone know a method or tutorial?

Why not just make it an elevator or aileron as appropriate?

If you need a different throw then the stick method would work...

Roger that! I am planing a rectangular exaust port. and was planing to use elevator for the horiz. central parts and rudder for the verti. central parts. It is the corner parts which will need to move both horiz. and verti. that are proving to be a problem.

I had to do a vee tail recently so I made a simple object (a tiny cube) and burried it at the hinge point, called it rudder_left, made another for the other side, rudder_right, then did similar for both elevators.  Next I linked the actual 'ruddervators' to the rudders then the rudders to the elevators.  Worked a treat and gave me the movements I needed.

Then I discovered that there was an ELEVON part name.   :)

I checked the elevon name in FSDS help and found nothing. I found it in the stock animation list how do you use it in this application?

TBH, I haven't tried as my first attempt worked.
I think you get four elevons to play with though.

Can you stick a picture up of the bit you're working on?  It might help me to visualize it.

Oops, just noticed you're using FSDS.  Sorry, I'm the wrong person to ask as I've never used that.   :-[

I think in FSDS there are 6,  listed 0 thru 5. Since it is stock animation I guess I will just put 2 parts side by side with the centers set at the end. and see what happens. I would set a pic but I am just in the visualization phase myself right now. trying to get a handle on the part naming and linking. I think I am beginning to work out how it should be linked together.
