Do you mean an incomplete aircraft model you could load up and get to grips with? You can find them here at simV in the design section ( on the left hand menu, main page) and then in aircraft design. Hope this helps  ;D

Hi Paul. It might be better if you try Gmax. This is the "Lite" version of 3DS. I imagine the GUI & tools are similar. You can find Gmax source files posted here at SimV or at FFDS. http://www.freeflightdesign.com/
You might find tips there for converting 3DS files to Gmax or MDL format.

It depends which sim this is for. FS2002 Pro includes Gmax & the Gamepack you need to convert the project to the FS MDL format.
Gmax is included on the FS9 CD but the Gamepack is posted separately in one of the FS9 SDKs. http://www.microsoft.com/games/flightsimulator/fs2004_downloads_sdk.asp

You can also download Gmax free from the Discreet site. http://www.discreet.com/products/gmax/

For *.3ds or dxf bare bones models, suitable for texturing practice, try 3D Cafe (http://www.3dcafe.com)

If your intention is to turn them into flightsim models,  you should consider gmax, and download source files from here or Freeflight Design Shop.
