How do you convert .gmax files into X files so....

so you can export them into makemdl?  I built the p=38 and added landing gear and propellers and I would like to test my creation in FS.  Gmax will not let me export the files and makemdl only uses X fliles.

Now I have gotten myself all confused, and I loaded the sample dash 8 and I couldn't even export that.  I put all of the flightsim files and plugins into the gmax directory, and it still doesn't work.  HELP.

I'm not sure what you mean about X files.  ???
To create an FS aircraft click File/Export & select Flightsim MDL File (*.MDL)
Please tell me if that fixed it.

export gives me the choice of .bgl to convert.  I figured out how to convert into makemdl, but the objects are coming out as scenery not aircraft.  I know there is some easy step i am missing. thanks

you need FSModelExp.dle .

If he has a .bgl option for export it means that he already has a fsmodelexp.dle installed.
Do as Grumpy says-if you have option for bgl export it must be mdl option there,just list it down...
