Hanseu. I would advise you not to use FSEdit. I don't know what it is you wish to do but this is almost certainly easier if done manually.

Well, I was just look to see what it could do. Eventually I would like to create my own airline with own paint and logo on the aircraft and my own voice as pilot voice.

But I am new to FS, just though it could be fun

OK. The only reason I can think of for not being able to change the properties of a file is that it's on the CD, not your hard drive. Make sure you're looking in the correct location.

Rather than use FSEdit, most things, like adding repaints for example, can be done by editing the Aircraft.cfg file of the appropriate aircraft manually in Notepad.

It was on the HD, but never mind, I will try to do it manually, the files looks like something I can understand.

However I have one question:

the B777-300 aircraft.cgf file has 4 of these headings "[fltsim.3]" can I just create a 5th and I will have my own airline, or do I need to copy the hole aircraft folder?

That's the idea. You don't say which sim this is for. My tute was written for FS2002 but the principle is the same for FS2004. http://www.simviation.com/lair/Repaint2002.htm

Great stuff Hanseu. Seems we got a result. ;)

Sorry, I can't help with the pilot voice. I know nothing of such things.

There is a program out there that can modify the default words to create new ones, specifically so you can add new airline designations and airport names.  But as for adding your voice as a new pilot, I'm not sure that is possible.

And before you do any repainting, look in the Aircraft Repainting forum and read a few of the replies, as well as getting the program DXTBmp, which will convert the reflective textures into a form you can edit and use.

Edit the bold:
[fltsim.1]#to the number of the folder with the texture
title=Boeing 777-300 Paint1#to the number of the folder with the texture
sim=Boeing777-300
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=1#to the number of the folder with the texture
kb_checklists=Boeing777-300_check
kb_reference=Boeing777-300_ref
atc_id=N777I

atc_airline=Landmark#New airline name
atc_flight_number=1123
atc_heavy=1
ui_manufacturer=Boeing
ui_type="777-300"
ui_variation="Landmark Airlines"#New airline name
description="On the outside, it may resemble the jetliners you've seen for years. Inside, however, it's a whole new bird. The newest plane in the long and proud Boeing family line is the 777, commonly referred to as the "Triple Seven." This long-range, fuel-efficient twinjet was first delivered in May 1995 to fill a gap in the market between the 747 and 767. It is capable of seating 368 to 386 passengers."
visual_damage=1

Generally for the re-numbering if you have 4 texture files already in the aircraft folder the new number you would use would be 4 because the new folder would be texture.4

The title doesn't necessarily have to be the number or name of the texture folder.  Mine are usually the name of the aircraft.

The texture folder doesn't have to be a number.  It can also be a letter, or set of letters.

Right, I understand.

I don't do it that way, simply because when you get into doing more detailed (IE-AFCAD and other programs) you don't get confused.

Just don't use numbers for your aircraft.  You end up with a Boeing 747 being labled [fltsim.2108] and the title being Boeing 777-300 Paint256, you start using AFCAD to include your repaints and everything starts going pear-shaped . . . ;)

I always use a name for my new aircraft, such as POSKY Bush for a bushplane made by Project OpenSKy.  This way, I don't have any confusion when I add it to Traffic Tools.

BTW, Traffic Tools (TTools) is a program that will add air traffic for you.  There are a couple of progs that will do itl, but I recommend finding PAI and installing their software, unless you are familiar with the system.

I want to thank, everybody for all your help. I have now created a new airline. I think I wait for a while with the pilot voice issue, but the SDK Voice pack should be able to do it as far as I can see.

Thanks again.
