Joing Parts In Gmax

After reading some of the tutorials, I am still somewhat confused as how to join two objects together.

I'm working on a T34c, since its rather boxy, I  created a box for the fusalage, and another one for the engine area. I separated the two due to the detail on the engine and if I mess it up I wont have to delete the main section. (see below)

As you can see above I need to join these two sections. Currently I have modified the engine box so that all the rear verticies match the front ones on the main fusalage box.  I'm assuming that this will help me in joining the two boxes.

So if anyone can give me some guidance I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

Check the thread below, http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb/ ... 1019932046

There is a min-tutorial that answers your question.

I tried the technique in the Stupid Idiots Guide to Gmax.

I selected the verticies and then under weld/select typed .005m. And I got the message: No Verticies within weld threshold.  I've tried selecting just one box's verticies as well as both, but get the same message no matter......

confused....

5 mm seems a bit low to me.  I would suggest moving up to something like 0.0625 m, as that would be close enough not to mess with the overall shape of the object, but still allow very close vertices to coalesce.

Alternately, you could figure out the distance between the vertices by doing a little simple math and figuring out the distance between them, then entering a slightly higher number into the weld area.

I figured out what my problem was..I did not change the boxes to "editble mesh" so I was unable to attach the two parts. But now thats taken care of.

Thanks guys!

p.s.  more questions will follow!  ;)
