Well, I guess it's time for me to learn this plane making thing. This is a practice project, but I hope to see it through to the end. If I do, hopefully there'll finally be a decent bubble canopied Spit for downloading. Anyone got any suggestions, or possible pitfalls to look out for? :)

I would suggest you start with a Mark IX source file and create a late Mark IX/XVI. Late production IXs had the cut down rear fuselage and buble top, broad chord pointed fin/rudder.
By starting with an existing source file, you can modify the fuselage, etc., and add details, while not having to worry about the wings, gear, etc.

Felix, just out of curiosity, how many attempts would you say it took to complete your first plane?

Remember - I started with FSDS 1 - early version.
Not counting the tutorial, My first release was a Mig15... and it was my first real attempt at completing a plane, rather than testing the program.
I really spend most of my time playing with the programs rather than serious attempts/
Also, remember that the "quality" at that time - (has it been three years already?) - wasn't as good as today's demands.
My first "real" project took about three weeks - of non-continuous work.

hey, you're doing better than me so far. At least you have three views. I'm just working from my head and a few sketches.
