Damage Model Design

Anyone have ideas on creating a visual damage(d) model ?
I've see various models where the wings "break" and the prop bends on crash landing. What about major visual damage due to being on the wrong side of 20mm shells!!!

I'm sure I can model and texture the appropriate damage under FSDS 2.24 but I'm looking for some ideas on what break points should be considered and how to link them to the DP.
Any/ all ideas/ comments welcome.
Ken

Ken. You can make a start with the tute entitled HOW TO BREAK YOUR PLANE IN CFS2 (WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM FSDS 2.1) by my Fox Four colleague Hayden Scott-Williams. FFDS Tips page. http://www.freeflightdesign.com/tips.htm

All the Fox Four aircraft have breaking parts models but not damage textures so far. Check out the link from my profile or signature.

Got the download, and understand the concept. For catastrophic damage makes sense.

What about variable visual damage based on DP file, for instance

effect.3=70, break,4,
effect.4=90, break, 2,
etc
We could then model a damaged part ( with associated texture) which would only show when the original part "disappeared" on the break. I'm thinking of at least the wings, using wing tip and wing as the controls.
I realise there's not too many variable to work with.
I'll do a copy of the YAS spitfire based on the above this weekend and try it under QC.
BTW, any ideas on the significance of the "aircraft damage" pre-processed parts in FSDS2.24???
