When I animate wings for a project. The ailerons do not move with the wing.
Using FSDS1.6 w Aircraft animator designing for cfs2.
I have made the ailerons children parts of the wings Alierons are taged for AA_Alierons, wings are taged  for AA_Spoilers and work just the way I planned. The Ailerons just do not move with them. Can any one tell me what I am doing wrong?

you're using the wrong tools  ;D

GMAX is the best solution for this i think, you can even do the wings with the flaps 1 setting and the ailerons will move along with the wing if you do it right

FSDS1's hierarchy was not meant for Flight Simulator, but rather for use with FLY!

For what you're trying to do, you're better off with FSDS2 or gmax, with animations included, or use SDLEdit and create the necessary macros.

I have both fsds2 and gmax, but have not taken the time to do the tuts for them. Since the project is already in a .fsc format will probably try in fsds2. Any tips would be appreciated. Remember I am designing for CFS2

Which makes using FSDS2 easier.

FIRST - set your preferences to make a CFS2 model, and point FSDS2 to your CFS2 folder.

Open the file in FSDS2. - get rid of all the "previous version transforms, etc."

Rename your control surfaces, etc. as appropriate )r_aileron, l_aileron, l_flap, r_flap. etc.)  For this, make sure you read the MS FS2K2 Aircraft Conatiner SDK.  Note that the FSDS2 drop down parts properties box gives you the tags listed.

If you want to animate your wings to the flaps key, name your wings as l_flap, and r_flap  *MAKING SURE YOU SET YOUR AXIS CORRECTLY!*  note that since normal flaps rotate in the x direction, you'll have to move your axis to the right pivot point, and rotate the axis so that the x axis points "up".

Set you ailerons to be children of the "flaps" and hopefully you're on your way.

I just did the first gear animating exercise in fsds2. I think I am beginning to see how the keyframe animation works. I was planing on using spoilers key as flaps control Stol function. Project has enough extra power to cruise at 375knts with spoilers on at full throttle.
