Hey, i'm new to the forums, but i've been flying in sims for a long time, and I have been modelling in 3d studio and Gmax (basically the same thing.  heh) for a while, so i know what i'm doing there..

I need to know how to get a model from Gmax or 3ds into CFS1...  I know there's lots of steps, but i took one look at the list of software in the downloads section, and my head almost exploded.  I would like to the the most full-featured software, so i can make a prop that works, virtual cockpit, panel, animating landing gear, etc. etc.

If someone would post with what i need, I would really appreciate it.

thanks.

Microsoft never "really" supported 3rd party creation of scenery/airplanes until FS2002.

It was the combined efforts of flightsimmers that developed the tools to create models and scenery for the earlier sims.

Having said that, CFS1 uses the "old" FS98 model, albeit with improved bitmap graphics.  *To my knowledge*, a method to create gmax/3DS models into the FS98/CFS1 model has not been developed.  Basically, all FS98/CFS1 models were created is Abacus' Aircraft Factory 99 (AF99) and a few with AD2000.

The model structures are different.

AF99, of course, is a completely different way of modelling than gmax/3DSMax.
