PART PRE-PROCESS.....(is something wrong?)

Postby Threadkiller » Wed Jul 16, 2003 2:28 pm

this is the last bug im trying to figure out :P the this is this:

as u may already know (i.e. Hagar) ive been haveing some unhappy encounters with FSDS2 but they've developed to my advantage, this time the prob is with the part pre process.....

the part i have processed is a flame, kinda like an afterburner but from a rocket engine, i have to flames, one comes out when the engine is at 5000rpm's and disapears at 10000, then the otherone appears at 10000 and stays for as long as the engine doesnt go below 10000......all this stuff worked when i had it animated on FSDS1, but when i exported it to FSDS2 doest show up the way it is supposed to, the flame is intermitent, and disapears at high rpms.... i tried everything, i even copied the same variables i had on the FSDS1 model but still doesnt work....

here is how is processed:

Flame1 (appears when full throttle)

Condition Name: Engine 1 RPM > 9999
Variable ID:         prop0_rpm
Operation:          InRange
Value 1:              10000
Value 2:              30000

Flame1 (appears when mid throttle)

Condition Name: Engine 1 RPM > 999
Variable ID:         prop0_rpm
Operation:          InRange
Value 1:              1000
Value 2:              9999

i dont know what else to put on it :(

help me  please :'( :( :-[  :-[  :'(

Sorry Ace. I haven't tried anything like that. You might be better off with adding flame effects to the DP.

[EXTRA.0]
location=0.00,0.00,-4.25

That looks about right to me. It's a while since I messed with DP files. I assume those entries are the same as the others in the DP.
left/right, high/low, fore/aft

This is different to how it's defined in Aircraft.cfg for some reason. You should be able to work out the exact location in FSDS.

You can use a reference part to define the points location in space. The easiest wat to do this it to create a point in FSDS, and tag it as "reference part only". This way the point is not rendered in FS. Move it to the location where you want the flame to start, and compile your project.

Now, FSDS will automatically produce a file callled 'Ref parts.txt" which will have your X,Y,Z coordinates in it. You can simply paste these in to your ".cfg" file.

This is a good methos to remeber, asyou can do this for gear contact points, scrape point, light positions, pilots view point - anything in fact!

Hope that helps,
